The Original Hot Tub Man

Tanner Drost is the founder and CEO of The Hot Tub Man Ltd., Central Alberta’s highest-rated hot tub, pool, sauna, and swim spa sales and service company.

Born and raised in Central Alberta, Tanner began working in the water treatment industry at just 18 years old. He quickly built a reputation for being hardworking, knowledgeable, and someone customers and coworkers could trust.

But Tanner’s path was not always easy.

At 22, his life took a difficult turn, and he experienced homelessness in Red Deer — at times sleeping outside under trees for shelter. It was a chapter that tested him deeply, but it also shaped the person and leader he would become.

Determined to build a better future, Tanner worked his way out of homelessness and continued growing in the water and hot tub industry, taking on management roles that helped him develop his leadership, customer service, and business skills.

In 2020, Tanner founded The Hot Tub Man Ltd. from a small rental four-plex. After years in the industry, he saw a clear need that was not being properly filled: reliable, honest, knowledgeable service that customers could count on long after the sale. What started with door hangers, long days, and a commitment to doing things differently has grown into one of Central Alberta’s most trusted names in backyard relaxation.

Today, The Hot Tub Man has been recognized as Small Business of the Year, a 3-time Consumer Choice Award winner, a multiple-time CommunityVotes Platinum winner, and a finalist for Alberta Small Business of Distinction. Tanner was also named one of Spa Retailer Magazine’s 30 Under 40, recognizing rising leaders making an impact in the hot tub and spa industry.

For Tanner, the success of The Hot Tub Man is about more than hot tubs. It is about building a company that customers can trust, creating opportunities for his team, and proving that your circumstances do not have to define your future.
